A sword designated as Worthy of Conservation by the Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword.
This is no small task to achieve. It is not uncommon for a sword dealer to submit ten swords for judgement and only receive two HOZON sword approvals.

美濃守藤原寿命 (Minonokami Fujiwara no Jumyo)
The Jumyo (寿命) school origins were in Yamato (Nara prefecture) , moving to Mino province (Gifu prefecture) in the Kamakura period (1185-1333). Their tradition of sword smithing continued for centuries, until the end of the Edo period in 1868. The character for Ju( 寿) meaning’ Longevity’. Myo(命 )meaning’ Ones own life’. Together the characters meaning is “Celebration of a Long Life.
Jumyo swords were highly prized
This is a superb example of a Jumyo Shin Shinto Mino blade, a strong powerful looking blade the appearance of a Nanbokucho Era (1334–1392) katana with wide mihaba, long in length.
This superb sword was first registered. Heisei 28. 8th month 28th day. (28 Aug 2016)
An indication that is was in the possession of the former owners for generations, passed down as a family heirloom.
