Early Edo Period menuki, over 350 years old.
Menuki are ornaments on the tsuka (generally under the tsuka-ito); to help fit into the palm for grip and originally meant to hide the mekugi.
For many collectors Menuki are prized miniature artworks on their own.
Fighting Samurai, one carrying a Naginata, the other with upraised Katana, both in full armour made from copper with shakudo copper gold overlay.
Much of the gold shakudo has been worn off with usage and age over the past 350 years.
Condition: Good for age.
